Olympics 2012 - Keeping you moving

During the Olympics, Killgerm is committed to helping minimise the disruption to your business.

We have put together some key information to help keep you on the road this summer.

When will this affect you?

  • The full Olympic Route Network (ORN) and related restrictions runs between 25 July and 14 August.

The Paralympic Route Network (PRN) is in operation between 25 August and 12 September.

During this time, Killgerm cannot guarantee next day deliveries to affected areas in London and Weymouth. Please prepare and plan for potential delays, and advise your customers of potential delays.

    London

    Weymouth

    Weymouth

How will this affect deliveries?

    • TNT will attempt to deliver between 6am and 6pm
    • Deliveries to customers closed between 6am and 8am will be attempted after 8am
    • Out of hours collections and deliveries (6pm to 6am) can be arranged via TNT Special Services at additional cost
    • Two attempts at delivery will be made before consignments are returned to sender

What are we doing to help?

  • Although next day deliveries from TNT will not be guaranteed, collection from TNT depots will be available next day. You will be able to collect consignments from TNT depots on the outskirts of the affected areas in London and Weymouth between 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8am-12noon Saturday. Consignments will be available for collection next day and will be held at the depot for a maximum of two working days.

There will be no additional cost to customers unless deliveries are made to Olympic venues (click here for more information). We will cover the cost Olympic Route Network Charge for consignments delivered into postcode areas close to Olympic venues.

Our Customer Services team will be at hand from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday to answer any questions you may have about deliveries during the Olympics.

Why are the Olympics affecting businesses?

  • The Olympic Route Network (ORN) and Paralympic Route Network (PRN) is a road network linking competition venues and other key sites. Around 1/3 of the network will have dedicated ‘Games Lanes’, reserved for accredited Games vehicles and on-call emergency vehicles. Click HERE to see a map of the ORN/PRN.

Although traffic on the ORN/PRN is expected to flow freely, it will be very difficult to exit the route network once it is joined and to cross the ORN/PRN at any point.
    • No stopping between 6:00 and 24:00
    • No crossing of Games Lanes, banned turns
    • Removal/change of loading bays
    • Additional loading and parking restrictions
Traffic congestion is therefore expected to build up in areas surrounding the ORN and venues, which may result in delayed deliveries. Click HERE to see TfL's 'Hot Spots' Maps for details.

Deliveries to Olympic venues

  • During the Games 'lockdown' period, access for parcel deliveries to 'lockdown venues' is restricted to the official logistics supporter of London 2012, UPS, however TNT can still accept your consignments to these venues. Click HERE to see a list of 'lockdown venues'.

All individual single parcel deliveries will incur a UPS pass-through charge of £25 per parcel - for example £20 of which is a fixed security-screening surcharge and £5 of which is a parcel delivery charge. The parcel delivery charge operates on a sliding scale for multi-parcel consignments. Charges for pallet deliveries are exeptionally higher. These are the rates charged to TNT and other carriers by UPS and will be passed on as charged.
