The RSPH has amended and developed it's pest control qualification in response to changes in the government regulations
regarding accredited qualifications.
The Level 2 "award" (Originally Level 2 Certificate in Pest Control) is designed to provide a good grounding in pest control
for anyone involved in the field. The level 2 "certificate" has an additional two "techniques" units, which would provide the
necessary practical skills for new entrants into the profession to start to carry out pest management activities.
The 'RSPH and BPCA Level 2 in Pest Management' has been designed specifically so that it is held on two consecutive days
of the week, over four weeks, with the examination held on a separate day, to enable convenient study for the working PCO.
Furthermore, a series of short assessments, held at the end of each of the four modules will allow students to monitor their
progress and highlight areas that may need further guidance.
The course fulfils the legal requirements for the training of pest control technicians as envisaged by the Control of Pesticides
Regulations 1986 and 1987 as amended.
The syllabus covers the biology, behaviour, and control of a full range of public health pests, health and safety, legislation,
customer care and also incorporates a valuable practical element. This culminates in the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH)
examination, which, when completed successfully will result in the award of a professional qualification.
Completion of the course will ensure technicians are trained to carry out their professional duties safely, efficiently and
humanely.
The RSPH examination is in three parts and candidates must achieve a minimum of 50% in each part to be awarded the
certificate.
