Sophie has written for Pest Control News about the challenges of detecting and controlling bed bugs as well as the importance of early detection of infestations in achieving effective control. In her talk, she will describe how scientists from Arctech Innovation have used the incredible sensing abilities of insects to develop odour-based tools to revolutionise insect and disease detection. By understanding how insects navigate through a world full of odour cues, Arctech Innovation have developed and patented a novel bed bug lure, called BugScents. Sophie will describe the design and testing process that took place in the development of the product.
